For Another Day in NEO, see Another Day (NEO)
"Man, life is sweet! Ahem... Dear lord! Please let today be even sweeter than yesterday! Thanks, peace. ... There! Now today is totally going to kick ass."
— Neku praying in the opening

Another Day is an extra chapter of the game that becomes available after completing the main storyline and unlocking the Chapter Select menu. It opens with the following disclaimer:

"The tale you are about to experience depicts a world entirely separate from that of the main story."

However, the Secret Reports, particularly numbers 20 to 22, make it clear that Another Day is connected to the main story in a fundamental way: the Composer fled to a parallel world at the end of the second week, and this is the world he fled to.

Features[]

The primary difference to the other chapters is the lack of any sense of progress. However, there is a Tin Pin-related subquest in the chapter. In the course of completing it, the player can acquire several rare pins. Despite this, in this alternate world, the options open to players are intact (i.e. shops, Noise battles, etc.).

The entire Shibuya River is off-limits until after the first two events in the Tin Pin quest, while Pork City is available beforehand and after Neku awakens again in the Scramble Crossing after defeating the Wizard of Slam. Sanae Hanekoma's shop (WildKat) is open before seeing him at Pork City, but closed afterwards. Naturally, leaving and returning to Another Day resets all of this. The Shadow Ramen shop cannot be accessed in Another Day until the Wizard of Slam is defeated and Neku is sent back to the Scramble Crossing. Coming to Shadow Ramen beforehand will have Neku say that the shop is empty, then leaves. After the subquest is completed, the same will happen, but Makoto will appear and open the shop.

In the Room of Reckoning is the Composer from the main story's world. He challenges Neku to an 11-chain battle of story bosses, and victory is rewarded with a set of pins, as well as the pins and PP gained from the battles themselves. This challenge can be repeated. If the difficulty is set to Hard or Ultimate, the time taken to complete the 11-chain battle is entered into the Final Time Attack.

Tin Pin Quest[]

The primary story of the Day involves a series of Tin Pin related events, and goes through a series of phases during which various events are accessible.

Interim[]

Another Day begins with Neku deciding to play in the Tin Pin Slam-off to ward off his "emo urges". Before doing so, the player can practice against several NPCs:

Matches
Opponent Location Pins Used Stage
Shiki Scramble Crossing x2 Tin Pin Thrift The Ring
Beat Center St. Entrance x2 Tin Pin Wheel

Also, the following can be encountered, but will not play Tin Pin:

First event[]

To progress, the player must go to Molco to sign up for the Slam-off. Following this are two preliminary rounds.

Round One Opponents: "The Peanut"
Az Nori Yo'

BLGL Neff J-mo
x2 One Grain, Infinite Promise

x1 Hot Gaze

x2 Ichimonji

x1 Splish Splash Barrier

x2 One Hop from Eden

x1 Go 2 Heaven

After the preliminary rounds, it turns out that the event was a setup by Uzuki Yashiro, Koki Kariya and Yodai Higashizawa to steal the competitors' pins, though Neku manages to retain his. Shooter then tells Neku to go to the "secret hideout", which is Ramen Don in Dogenzaka.

Second event[]

After a prolonged discussion, the idea is proposed that Neku, Shiki, Beat, Joshua and Shooter should go out and play Tin Pin to draw attention to themselves, in order to flush out the Black Skullers. From now on, the player can enter Shibuya River, but can no longer enter Pork City (restarting the chapter resets this).

From this point on, numerous NPCs appear, most of whom can be challenged to Tin Pin matches, and each match rewards the player with a pin upon victory. "Tutorial Guy" is still present in the Scramble Crossing, but his lines don't change. Rhyme can also be encountered at Miyashita Park, and will join the party if spoken to, and though this doesn't cause much of a change in dialogue for the other encounters, it does unlock 777 and causes Yodai Higashizawa to appear, interacting with the latter of which starts the next event.

Note that many of the conversations for these events reference topics from the others (e.g. Shiki's Prince fan club, Beat's standup, Joshua's connections, and the ability to control multiple pins). The list above is organized in an attempt to sequence these conversations appropriately.

Third event[]

After speaking to Rhyme at Miyashita Park, Higashizawa will be waiting in the adjacent underpass. Speaking to him triggers the next segment, which begins by challenging him at Tin Pin. This match yeilds no reward, but victory is mandatory to advance.

The Ring x2 Tin Pin Golem

After winning the match, it turns out that Rhyme was working for the Black Skullers, and uses her position to steal and destroy Shooter's Red Kaiser. With Shooter out of commission (to Neku's chagrin), the group decides to return to Ramen Don, where another discussion ensues revealing Ken Doi was the creator of Tin Pin. He gives them the color prototypes for the (new) Solid Slammers and tells them that the Skullers' hideout is Miyashita Park. Returning there and defeating each Skuller in turn advances the story, revealing that Higashizawa used to work for Ken Doi and is seeking to "purify" Tin Pin, betraying even the Skullers themselves. Dr. Pin Jr. (Sho) then shows up with the Solid Slammer Omega "Kaiser Phoenix", which shooter uses to take on Higashizawa in one final match.

Following Neku's victory though, a new opponent appears: the Wizard of Slam. After revealing that he was "Tutorial Guy", he challenges Neku to a match (donning his Wizard's Glasses to do so).

The player is rewarded with the Wizard's Glasses their first time completing the quest. Afterward, the Shibuya River area closes again and Neku returns to the Scramble Crossing, where the Tutorial Guy is no longer present. Additionally, Shadow Ramen will now be open for business when visited.

Pork City[]

Pork City can be accessed before or after the Tin Pin side story. Entering Pork City will also cause WildKat to close for the rest of the chapter. Each of the thirteen floors has six Red Noise symbols. After defeating all the Red Noise symbols, a Pig Noise appears (two appear on floor 13). Upon defeating them the nearby Reaper gives Neku food and a 10,000 Yen pin as a reward and allows him to proceed to the next floor.

The following lists the rewards for clearing each floor. Note that rewards can only be obtained once. Replaying the chapter will not cause the Noise to respawn, and speaking to the Reaper will have them clear the wall, but no rewards are given.

As Neku climbs through the floors, he reflects upon his history with Mr. H and how they met. Upon reaching the roof, Neku finds Mr. H. However, it is the Mr. H from the main story world. He is the "ultimate opponent" (AKA the superboss of The World Ends With You) referred to in the Secret Report requirement.

After winning the battle for the first time, Neku obtains the item My Phones, a unique thread item.

The Shibuya River[]

After forming the Kindred Spirits, the Shibuya River area opens up, giving access to additional events and rewards. The area closes when the Tin Pin quest is completed.

The Fifenfrog[]

Trail of the Sinner, Rubicon and Trail of the Bygone are the sole habitat of the rare Fifenfrog, and only on this day.

This rare noise drops the ultra-rare Black Mercury pin. Acquiring that pin can take time because the Fifenfrog is an ultra-rare Noise. To make it easier you can save in any of the areas it appears and fight every Noise symbol in the screen. If the Fifenfrog symbol isn't located in the area, just leave the area, go back in it and save the game again. If you find the Fifenfrog and erase it but if the player does not get the drop they were hoping for, just reload the game and the Fifenfrog will still be in the very same spot the player found it the first time.

In Solo Remix and Final Remix, it is no longer possible to exploit saving in this manner, as the game auto-saves after battles. An alternative tactic is to work out which Noise symbol contains a Fifenfrog, escape from the battle, then set up a chain starting with that symbol. If the Fifenfrog doesn't drop the pin, either escape from (or allow Neku to be defeated in) one of the subsequent reductions so that the battle can be retried.

The Vice Wizard of Slam[]

The Vice Wizard of Slam can be found at Dead God's Pad and is technically part of the Tin Pin quest.

Final Time Attack[]

Continuing through the Trail of the Judged, Neku and company find CAT's graffiti. Joshua ominously asks what Neku would do if he challenged him to a match with all of Shibuya on the line, which only serves to further creep Neku out.

Upon reaching the Room of Reckoning, the group finds something even more shocking: another Joshua. With dialogue suggesting that this is the Joshua from the main story, the two Joshuas discuss the differences between their respective worlds. The "main story" Joshua then challenges Neku to a match, saying that he has wanted to have a contest with him but that "his" Neku is busy with the game.

The match Joshua has in mind is an 11-chain boss rush known as the Final Time Attack. Victory in this battle rewards Neku with a starter pin set and five 10,000 Yen pins. Neku will also receive the Angel Feather the first time he wins, and when played on Hard or Ultimate, will have the time and ranking recorded on the Record screen.
