Takeharu Ishimoto (石元 丈晴,Ishimoto Takeharu) (born 29 May 1970) is a Japanese composer and musician. Formerly employed by Square Enix, he joined in 1999 as a synthesizer programmer. In 2002, he was promoted to the role of composer. He has since composed for several Square Enix games such as The World Ends with You. Ishimoto left Square Enix at the end of 2017 to become a freelancer.[1] He currently is working for THRILL Inc., a company founded a month after Ishimoto left Square Enix. He is composing the soundtrack for The World Ends with You The Animation and NEO: The World Ends with You[2].
In October 2008, Ishimoto formed SAWA with singer Sawa Kato. He played guitar and composed, SAWA releasing their first album 333 in December 2008. Kato previously wrote lyrics and sang for The World Ends with You's soundtrack. After SAWA disbanded, Ishimoto formed The Death March, named after the band in The World Ends with You, a band that plays and re-arranges music from Ishimoto-composed soundtracks. He composes a variety of genres including rock, pop, hip-hop, and electronica.
