Partner Pin - Shiki

Beat Partner Pin

The Partner Pin is a game mechanic in Solo Remix and Final Remix. In these versions, the Stride Battle Cross System is removed since there isn't a Control Pad or any "A, B, X, Y'" Buttons from the Nintendo DS. Instead, partners now function as an additional pin and have their own unique pin designs. These pins are located where the Fusion Pin normally appears. The pin is replaced with the Fusion Pin once a Fusion is available, and returns after a Fusion is used.

Mechanics[]

The partner pin resembles other pins in that it has specific means of activation, limited uses as shown by a gauge on the pin, and a reboot period shown by a dark circle that slowly fills with grey. In the event the Fusion Pin is visible, the reboot circle will appear around the pin instead of on it. Like Neku's pins, each partner pin has a specific pin attack power (Joshua's has a different value after obtaining (S) Levitate (Remix)), but this is added to the partner's attack when calculating damage instead of Neku's.

Partner pins differs in a number of other areas from the pins Neku uses. Most notably, while Neku will never activate two Psychs at once (though he can use a second Psych while another is still active), the attacks from partner pins are mutually exclusive from Neku's own attack, with neither hindering the other. Partner pins do have an initial activation period when the specific partner is summoned, but so long as the partner remains the attacks can be used for as long as the pin gauge permits. Note though that the partner character will depart if no partner commands are input for a time or if the gauge is depleted.

The partner pin's abilities also mature in a very different way from normal pins, with all of of their capabilities deriving from the Item menu. Various stickers affect the pin's functions, from boosting the number of uses, to improving or altering the nature of the attacks themselves. After beating the game, partner pins are also selected from the Item menu.

Activation[]

Every partner Neku has is activated by a Command. These are the Commands on how to activate each partner in a Reduction.

Design[]

In general, all Partner Pins show the designated partner in their Level 3 Fusion pose on a stylized background.

Story[]

No overt references are ever made to the partner pin. It makes an appearance before the Fusion Pin is introduced, but outside of it's battle mechanics, no explanation is given for what the partner pin is, assuming it even exists at all.
