machastree, stage name Mach Tsuji. is a minor character in NEO: The World Ends with You. He is a peculiar man who literally makes himself at home in haunted houses. He rose to Internet fame thanks to his video series on urban legends, and his run-ins with the paranormal continue to gain popularity. During his latest investigation, he discovered the tale of a "manic flower" that gives even him the chills.
Appearance[]
machastree wears a black jacket and pants with a darker undershirt. He wears a black hat with a darker black stripe in the middle and black-rimmed glasses, the white lenses obscuring his eyes. He has short black hair and a short stubble of moustache and beard hair.
Story[]
machastree is mentioned in 🡒urbaNlegendZ (Week 2, Day 4) when Nagi Usui looks up urban legends she and the Wicked Twisters have been told to investigate by a wall Reaper interested in urban legends. She finds that the famous videos by machastree have been removed and assumes it was done by the Reapers to prevent Players from cheating via looking the urban legends up. The Reaper says the videos were deleted because they "got too close to the truth". Fret uses his Remind ability to investigate these legends by sending reminders about machastrees' videos that jog fans' memories.
The sidequest "Don't Stop Be-leafing in Noisrevni (Week 2, Day 5) is about helping Ryoji sell irises by imprinting keywords on nearby people about the "manic flower" rumor. A person that can be imprinted on has the handle @WannabeMachastree - they were tasked by their boss to investigate the rumor.
machastree formally appears in "Internet Trolls", a sidequest in SuDDeN DeaTH (Week 3, Day 1). Ryoji complains of someone writing about his shop and the irises he sells, which Nagi deduces to be machastree. Using Remind, Fret finds him at Expressway Underpass and brings him to Ryoji. machastree is terrified and thinks Ryoji is trying to rob him, but Ryoji coerces him into teaming up - machastree tells him urban legends and Ryoji sells stock relating to it.
