The Drop Rate is the percent chance of getting a Pin for defeating Noise. Most Drop Rates are low to begin with, but there are three ways to increase the drop rate.

The first is to adjust your Level. You can adjust your Level from the Phone Menu by sliding the Level Gauge to increase/decrease your current Level. For every 1 Level decreased, 1 Drop Rare point is increased. A Noise's Drop Rate is multiplied by that number.

The second way is by Chaining Noises. The Star multiplier is multiplied for each in the Chain. Altogether, the Rate can increase very rapidly.

The third way is through the use of two different food items. Once digested, the drop rate will be increased permanently. These two items are the Curious Mushrooms and Absolute Shadow Ramen, sold at the Herbal Remedies (Shibu Dept. Store) and the Shadow Ramen (Dogenzaka), respectively. The Maximum Drop Rate is 999.

The formula for total drop rate during a fight is:

Note, however, that the pin drops ratio can NEVER go beyond 100%. One pin drop item per death, no more than that.

Obtaining Pins of Lower Difficulty Levels

Drops are normally determined by the current Difficulty you've set the game to, but if you fail the drop rate's chance then it tries to get the drops of lower Difficulty levels. It goes down through each difficulty drop rate until you do get a pin, or fail the Easy Difficulty Drop Rate and get nothing from that Noise.

So if you are on a higher Difficulty, then you may get a drop of a lower difficulty by:

  • Fighting Chained Battles which give less than 100% total drop rate.
  • Losing a battle, then selecting "Retry on Easy"
  • Actually changing to the lower Difficulty from the Phone Menu.
