Each defeated noise may drop some pins (note that noise never drops items).

Which pins can drop depends on the difficulty level and the specific enemy. Each noise has four possible drop items (one for each difficulty), although sometimes these items overlap (e.g., the normal difficulty drop may be the same as hard difficulty drop). The details are collected in Noise List.

Drop Rate

The Drop Rate is the percent chance of getting a pin for defeating Noise. Most Drop Rates are low to begin with, but there are three ways to increase the drop rate.

The first is to adjust your level. You can adjust your level from the cell phone menu by sliding the yellow bar left and right to decrease and increase you level. When the level is decreased, the multiplier (the number next to the star) is increased. A noise's drop rate is multiplied by that number.

The second way is by chaining noise. The star multiplier is multiplied for each in the chain. Altogether, the rate can increase very rapidly.

The third way is through the use of two different food items. Once digested, the drop rate will be increased permanently. These two items are the Curious Mushrooms and Absolute Shadow Ramen, sold at the Herbal Remedies (Shibu Dept. Store) and the Shadow Ramen (Dogenzaka), respectively.

The formula for total drop rate during a fight is:

Note, however, that the drop rate can never exceed 100%. This means noise can only drop one item per death, not more. ? ]

Getting Lower-Difficulty Drops

Drops are normally determined by the current difficulty, but if you fail to get the item from the current difficulty, the game will then give you a chance to get the item from each of the lower difficulties. For example, if playing on normal difficulty, and the normal drop doesn't happen (of course, this means the drop rate is below 100%), the game will then give you a chance at the easy drop for the same noise.  ? ]

In other words, if you want to get an easy-type drop, you can either:

  • fight the noise on "Easy" difficulty
  • fight the noise on a higher difficulty level, but make sure the adjusted drop rate for that difficulty is less than 100%
