desireDestination is a day in NEO: The World Ends with You.

Synopsis[]

Motoi Anazawa claims he arranged the previous day's help and will help them with the day's mission to erase Shoka Sakurane, but is defeated by her before the Twisters arrive. Using Replay, Rindo arrives at the meeting earlier to hear Motoi blackmailing Shoka with the intelligence that she is the one who helped the Players, hoping to join the Shinjuku Reapers himself. After Motoi and the Purehearts are defeated, Motoi admits that An0ther's content was stolen.

Plot[]

Rindo has a vision of Motoi Anazawa lying dead. Shortly after recieving the mission, Motoi contacts the Twisters claiming that he set up the help for them on the previous day, and that he suspects the option of erasing Shoka is a trap, but that he will try to do so or enable the Twisters to fight her. The Twisters briefly meet with Kanon Tachibana and Uzuki Yashiro; Kanon explains that she also recieved help with the puzzles on the previous day, and Beat asks Uzuki why the mission would be to erase a Reaper. Uzuki admits she doesn't know, but that Shoka is on bad terms with the Shinjuku Reapers; Fret is surprised that Reapers can even be erased.

After defeating the Purehearts and Variabeauties team members to win the Scramble Slam, Motoi sends Rindo a message stating that Shoya is onto him and they will likely fight at the Shibuya Stream. Rindo arrives in time to see Shoka apparently kill Motoi and decides to save him, given his admiration for him. He uses Replay and his knowledge of the teams' tactics to complete the Scramble Slam more quickly and arrive at Shibuya River earlier.

This enables him to hear Motoi talking to Shoka for several minutes before sending the message, during which she claims that Motoi has been reporting to the other Reapers that Shoka has been helping the players while taking credit for that help himself, and that he considers himself to be backed up by his "fans" as AnOther - one in particular. Rindo is shocked at Motoi's attitude and does not interfere in the initial attack, but after Motoi is struck by Shoka he gets up and attempts to attack her in the back. Rindo intervenes and Motoi explains that he's been desperate to win the Game and has been trying to curry favour with the Reapers in the hope of becoming one. He also says that he deliberately give Rindo false information about Kaichi "Susukichi" Susuki's weakness on Week 1, Day 7 (NEO) in an attempt to sabotage them. Rindo and the Twisters fight Motoi.

After Motoi is defeated, Tanzo Kubo appears and indicates that he made the suggestion that Motoi could become a Reaper, but has not actually recommended him to any of the senior Reapers yet. He suggests that he could "make a better showing" next week, and when Motoi points out that his team is currently in last place, Kubo just laughs. Shoya scoffs at the suggestion that Motoi could become a Reaper, saying that Motoi couldn't even defeat a "real Reaper like.." before Tanzo cuts her off, warning her that she is in enough trouble as it is. Finally, Motoi admits that his content posted as AnOther was copied from lesser-known blogs. In an afterpiece, Ayano Kamachi tells Shoka that in order to be forgiven for what she has done she must follow her instructions precisely.

Walkthrough[]

Noise[]

Motoi Anazuma is fought with several standard Purehearts. He only has one attack, a "Trip Wire" pin, but beware as touching it will stun and damage the character. More importantly, the automatic movement triggered by pressing attack buttons does not automatically avoid it, meaning you must manually check for a clear path - be especially careful when using Beatdrop combinations.

During the fight, Motoi will use two additional special moves. The first will have him start a conversation with the other Purehearts, causing the screen to flood with chatboxes that block your vision. This does no other harm, and attacking the Purehearts will break the chatboxes; after a certain amount of time, they all disappear. He will use this up to twice in the early part of the fight.

Motoi's second special move is to start a crowdfunding campaign (!!). This will cause a progress box and timer to appear on the right of the screen. While it is showing, the progress bar will fill while Motoi is active, and the other Purehearts may also stop to contribute (the message "fundraising" will appear when they're doing so) and can be stopped by attacking. If the timer runs out, the bar disappears and nothing changes; but if the bar fills completely, a benefit is given to the Purehearts. There are three different campaigns Motoi can attempt: powering up the team, adding extra regular members, and causing immediate victory.

If Motoi himself is defeated then both of these moves become moot, however he has a large number of HP and his special moves pause the battle, so focusing him down before one of them can be activated is very difficult.

Secret Reports[]

Trivia[]

  • There is a typo in Motoi's final confrontation with Shoka: he says "Seeing as you did such a poor job covering your teacherous tracks.", which should be treacherous.
  • There is no in-character explanation of how Motoi is aware of how the dialog box system works.
  • When Replaying the fights in the Scramble Slam, the player cannot gain (or lose) Scramble Points.
  • Further foreshadowing of the reveal in CHECKMATE! (Week 2, Day 7), as it is likely that when Shoka said that Motoi "couldn't handle a real Reaper", she was probably about to name Kaichi "Susukichi" Susuki or Tsugumi Matsunae before Kubo cut her off.
