🡐stabbed is a day in NEO: The World Ends with You.

Synopsis[]

Kaichi "Susukichi" Susuki uses the ruse of a game of hide-and-seek to lure the Wicked Twisters to the underground Shibuya River and trap them there. After using Replay to escape and erase Susukichi, the team learns that he was also planning to attack Shiba, and trapped the Twisters in the River to protect them.

Plot[]

As the day begins, Rindo Kanade is thinking about what was said in the previous two days by Tsugumi Matsunae and Sho Minamimoto and begins to fear that his Replay ability may be a form of Dissonance that is contributing to Shibuya's erasure. He is interrupted by Kaichi "Susukichi" Susuki arriving, saying that he wanted to meet Neku Sakuraba and wants to challenge them to a game; and that if they win, he'll show them Shiba's location. The Twisters accept, and Susukichi begins another game of hide-and-seek. Shoka Sakurane mentions having seen a "really gaudy Reaper" in Shinjuku shortly before its erasure, and Beat mentions that this may have been Coco Atarashi who has changed her style since then.

Susukichi sends a picture of himself at the Shibuya Stream to the Twisters. As they travel there, Neku speaks to Rindo about the uncertainty of what they are doing and the need to try their best even if it doesn't improve things. When they go there, they find that the entrance to the underground Shibuya River is open. Susukichi sends a message to them from inside, and they enter, but are abruptly sealed inside by a Wall. Susukichi then texts Rindo again, saying not to move and that they'll be let out when the game is over. Beat suggests using Replay to avoid being trapped, but Neku asks Rindo if there are side effects, and when he says that there are, he suggests not using it if it can be helped (although Rindo does not mention that he does not actually control when Replay activates) and that he and Beat will look for an ordinary exit. At that point, they hear that it's raining above and also a mighty series of bangs. Uzuki Yashiro contacts them to ask if they're OK, and tells them that Shibuya is being torn apart; Beat finds an exit through a manhole and confirms this. The banging becomes louder and louder and Replay triggers as Neku panics.

Neku quickly returns to a few minutes ago to warn the Twisters not to pass into the underground section of the River. A few moments later Susukichi contacts them noticing that they haven't gone in, and telling them to meet him at the Overpass and he'll tell them where Shiba is. When they go there, though, Susukichi transforms into a gigantic Noise and attacks them.

After defeating him, Susukichi's manner changes dramatically and he sadly looks at Shoka with Neku and Rindo and asks them to defeat Shiba Miyakaze for him. The Twisters are shocked, and Susukichi explains that since Shiba gained power, he doesn't care about anyone, not even the Shinjuku Reapers; and Susukichi doesn't think he has the right to erase Shibuya. He planned to attack Shiba himself, to "knock some sense into him", but didn't previously think he was strong enough; he didn't ever think the Wicked Twisters (or anyone else) would defeat him before he could make his move. He tells them that Shiba is usually found staring out over the Scramble Crossing.

Neku Sakuraba realises that Susukichi trapped them at the Shibuya River to protect them, and he confirms this. The river roots in Shinjuku, so should already have been erased, but it hasn't been - so it must be on its own plane. That way, if he failed to defeat Shiba, the twisters could try. Susukichi begins to collapse and then is erased.

Shoka Sakurane admits that she contacted Susukichi, who she calls "Big Su", and told him about the previous day's events with Tsugumi Matsunae. Rindo wonders if Shiba is now feeling lonely, having lost two of his apparent friends, but Neku states that Shiba's emotions may have been torn apart by Dissonance. Rindo states that since Shiba now has no allies, since even the Shinjuku Reapers are turning on him, that they have their best chance of defeating him; but they also wonder what Shiba hopes to gain or achieve. Checking his phone, he sees he still has no messages from Swallow.

In the afterpiece, an unknown figure using a computer texts "Big Bro" noting that what's happening in Shibuya doesn't match Shinjuku. Kaie Ono reveals that Susukichi sent him a message stating he was about to make "a real poisoned move" and to be prepared to fight Shiba. Hishima Sakazuki talks to Kaie, and he states that he would be prepared to go down with Shibuya if it was destroyed, as he has no wish to simply continue moving between cities destroying them.

Secret Reports[]

Notes[]

  • The day's title means "backstabbed", with the arrow pointing backwards.
  • Some foreshadowing, Susukichi stated in the previous day that he intended to "flip the Wicked Twisters". It appears he actually meant this literally - not to erase them, but to convert them to his side.
  • Oddly, there is no given explanations for Susukichi's attempt to erase the people who he was trying to protect and who could have helped him with his plan. It is possible he was merely trying to play with them and did not expect to erase them, or that he lost self-control in his Noise form. The reason why Yodai Higashizawa has a yellow eye is said to be because of his inability to control his Noise form.
