The various different species of Noise that appear across the series do not all have unique sprites. Many species can be grouped together in Noise Families that share behaviors and some abilities in battle but vary in coloring, statistics, and certain specific abilities. The Noise Report automatically groups species of the same family together, leaving spaces for unencountered Noise (Dissonance Noise are an exception to this rule, being grouped separately at the end of the report, due to being newly added enemies). Generally, Noise that occupy later entries in the Noise Report are more powerful and have access to a wider range of attacks than their earlier-occurring family members. ==Families in The World Ends With You== ===Regular Noise=== The following are the families of commonly encountered Noise enemies that can be found throughout the game. Pig Noise technically constitute a unique variety for which a discrete number of unique encounters exist within a distinct Noise symbol, and each symbol will vanish permanently one the Noise is defeated. Reaper Noise meanwhile are technically not Noise at all though they function similarly. They are notably grouped together with Reaper Bosses in the Noise Report, which means they are entirely separate from main Noise families. Members of this family, including most of the aforementioned bosses, have a shadow that fights on the second screen that they can switch with. The shadow is weak against Positive psychs. Remix versions of the game still include the shadow switching despite the removal of the second screen from most battles. *Frog Noise *Sprog Noise *Wolf Noise *Grizzly Noise *Bat Noise *Mink Noise *Shrew Noise *Popguin Noise *Jelly Noise *Corehog Noise *Boomer Noise *Fox Noise *Drake Noise *Rhino Noise *Carcin Noise *Raven Noise *Shark Noise *Woolly Noise *Pig Noise *Reaper Noise ===Families containing Taboo Noise=== Taboo Noise, though not a true family of Noise, are a distinct variety of Noise. Since each member belongs to another family. they are not separated into their own section within the Noise Report, and are instead grouped together with each of the other Noise of their species. The exceptions are the two unique Taboo boss enemies, Sho Minamimoto (Taboo) and Leo Cantus, though the former has a passing resemblance to the Reaper Noise Family. *Frog Noise - Choirfrog *Wolf Noise - Grunge Wolf *Grizzly Noise - Wall of Grizzly *Mink Noise - Death Metal Mink *Corehog Noise - Chaoti Corehog *Boomer Noise - Eurobeat Boomer *Drake Noise - Neoclassical Drake *Rhino Noise - Trance Rhino *Carcin Noise - Carcinopunk === Boss Noise === Boss Noise is a somewhat diverse category consisting of Boss Variants of regular Noise, Reaper Bosses, "Canor" Noise bosses which appear to command certain types of regular Noise, and "Cantus" bosses that serve as alternative combat forms of higher ranking Reapers and other beings inhabiting the UG. All bosses share the features of not granting experience when defeated, having a displayed health bar on the left of the screen, and having a far more cinematic erasure sequence. (Vespertilio Canor is the sole exception to the last of these, as it is technically not defeated by the Neku.) ==== Regular Noise Families Containing Bosses ==== * Grizzly Noise - Circle Pit Grizzly * Mink Noise - Grindcore Minks * Corehog Noise - Metal Corehog * Fox Noise - Progfox * Drake Noise - Goth Metal Drake * Rhino Noise - Dub Rhino * Shark Noise - Swing Shark * Wooly Noise - Woolly AOR ==== Reaper Bosses ==== Like all common Reaper enemies, Reaper bosses generally have a shadow that fights on the second screen that they can switch with that is weak to Positive psychs. Exceptions to this include Sho Minamimoto, in which he appears on one screen at a time or else transform into Leo Cantus, the storyline battle with Kariya and Uzuki together and the battle with Kariya and Uzuki's berserk forms, in which each sticks to one screen, and Megumi Kitaniji, who fights alongside a possessed Shiki (the only enemy with no Noise Report entry). * Reaper Beat * Uzuki Yashiro (Enemy) * Uzuki Yashiro (Berserk) * Koki Kariya (Enemy) * Koki Kariya (Berserk) * Sho Minamimoto (Enemy) * Sho Minamimoto (Taboo) * Megumi Kitaniji (Enemy) ==== Canor "Commander" Bosses ==== These bosses command swarms of regular Noise that they appear to be distantly related to. * Vespertilio Canor (commands Gabba Bats) * Cornix Canor (commands Decadravens) * Pteropus Canor (commands Happycore Bats) ==== Cantus "Reaper Noise Form" Bosses ==== These bosses, fought primarily at the end of a given week, serve as combat forms used by powerful UG residents. They generally either appear on one screen at a time or else exist as a single enemy that spans both screens at once. Leo Cantus only appears sporadically when Sho absorbs Taboo Noise and is itself a type of Taboo Noise. Arguably, Panthera Cantus could be considered as being related to both Leo and Tigris, and is the only of these bosses to appear as two separate enemies on each screen. * Ovis Cantus * Leo Cantus * Tigris Cantus * Anguis Cantus * Draco Cantus * Panthera Cantus ===Dissonance Noise=== Dissonance Noise are a type of Noise found only in A New Day of The World Ends with You Final Remix, and are considered to be their own unique noise variety. Unlike Taboo Noise, these are not sorted with the rest of the Noise of the same species, instead placed at the end of the Noise Report, likely due to being newly introduced, though this may also tie into the peculiar nature of these Noise variants. Notably, all but one of these new Noise variants is a variation on an existing Noise family, with the Tapir being the sole outlier. *Dissonance Grizzly *Dissonance Bat *Dissonance Mink *Dissonance Rhino *Expert Reaper *Uzuki Yashiro (Expert Mode) - Fought alongside Koki Kariya (Expert Mode) *Koki Kariya (Expert Mode) - Fought alongside Uzuki Yashiro (Expert Mode) *Dissonance Shark *Dissonance Tapir ==Families Unique to the Animation== The World Ends with You The Animation featured two unnamed Noise families not seen anywhere else in the franchise: the Fish Noise and Spider Noise. ==Families in NEO: The World Ends With You== NEO: The World Ends With You introduced both new Noise, and reintroduced returning Noise from the previous game, placing them in the Noisepedia. There are 92 entries of Noise, although some have multiple entries. There are 45 new species of noise, 31 returning species, 7 Boss counterparts, 3 Psyched versions of Players, and 6 Noise with repeated encounters with multiple entries. Generally, the Noise Families are smaller than that of the previous game. Boss versions of Noise are typically right next to their normal noise counterpart. ===Regular Noise=== *Frog Noise *Raven Noise *Grizzly Noise *Jelly Noise *Wolf Noise *Shark Noise *Stinger Noise *Puffer Noise *Rhino Noise *Popguin Noise *Leon Noise *Woolly Noise *Rex Noise *Pig Noise *Shinjuku Reaper Noise *Shinjuku Reaper Noise Form ===Plague Noise=== Plague Noise are a type of Noise found only in NEO: The World Ends with You, and are considered to be their own unique Noise family due to their separation from the other Noise families. It contains some Noise that are not in any previously listed families. *Plague Grizzly *Plague Frog *Plague Batrakos *Plague Wolf *Plague Stinger - Plague Stinger (Boss) *Plague Nemopilema *Plague Pachy - Plague Pachy (Boss) ===Player Noise=== Unlike the previous game, Players belonging to other teams can be battled in tourney known as the Scramble Slam, as well has having various Boss battles against the leaders (with the exception of Kanon.) Each team "grunt" has a "psyched" version of itself, which is noticeably stronger. *Deep Rivers Society **Deep Rivers Societist - Psyched Societist **Fuya (Enemy) *Purehearts **Pureheart - Psyched Pureheart **Motoi (Enemy) *Variabeauties **Variabeauty - Psyched Variabeauty ===α Noise=== In Party in the 'Buya (Another Day), the player can battle alternative versions of the Shinjuku Reapers Noise forms. In the Noisepedia, these are marked with an α (lowercase Alpha) at the end of their names, in order to signify that this is Noise from another universe. α Noise (Alpha Noise) are in their own separate section of the Noisepedia, after Phoenix Cantus (Noise #88 to #91.) *Cervus Cantus α *Grus Cantus α *Iris Cantus α *Shiba α ==Trivia== *Reaper Noise are the only family in the original game not to have a unique Pin named after them. **With the release of Final Remix, the Dissonance Tapir arguably belongs to its own pin-less family. *Draco Cantus and Panthera Cantus are the only Reaper Noise form bosses not to have a corresponding Noise pin at first glance. That said, Panthera Cantus clearly uses both Leo Cantus and Tigris Cantus models while Draco Cantus appears to be a powered-up version of Anguis Cantus. *Each type of Noise Family has a specific color as their background within the Noise Report. **Regular Noise (Chump Noise, Negative Noise, Taboo Noise and some Boss Noise) are signified with red. **Pig Noise are signified with green. **Dissonance Noise are signified with a dirty orange. **Reaper Noise and Reaper Noise Forms are signified with blue. ***Vespertilio Canor, Pteropus Canor and Cornix Canor are the only Noise with blue backgrounds that do not have a Reaper associated with them. They are likely put alongside the Reapers as they do not have a proper Noise family otherwise and are species that only exist as bosses. *The Grunge Wolf is the only returning Taboo Noise in NEO: The World Ends with You, albeit with a new color palette. Noise Families
